Any organization's ability to attract in and keep top people in the cutthroat job market of today is essential to its success. With the changing preferences of the workforce and technological improvements, HR professionals must use creative recruitment techniques to differentiate themselves from the competition and draw in the finest applicants. Recruitment is also referred to as the process of finding, luring, interviewing, choosing, employing, and onboarding staff. It also covers every aspect, from determining the need for staffing to meeting it (Luenendonk, 2021).

Depending on the goals and resources of the business, recruitment can take many different forms. Recruiters are usually employed by large corporations through their HR department. In small- to medium-sized businesses, recruiting duties may fall within the purview of the hiring manager who will work closely with the new hire (Santos, 2022). And also, many businesses employ recruitment process outsourcing, which involves bringing in outside recruiting professionals to act as strategic advisory partners, or they use third-party staffing firms to make hiring (Semetaite, 2023).

Different Types of Recruiting

  • Internal Recruiting-Filling the positions in the organization with the existing talent pool
  • Staffing Recruiting-Recruiters employed by outside staffing firms place applicants in temporary, short-term positions
  • Contingency Recruitment- A method where recruiters are only compensated when they successfully bring on a new employee for the company
  • Retained Recruitment-Usually employed for positions that are difficult to fill including senior and executive positions
  • Outplacement Recruitment-Links unemployed job seekers with new employment opportunities

Effective Recruitment Strategies to Attract Top Talent to Organizations

1.     Build a Strong Employer Brand

A company's reputation among prospective hires and present workers is known as employer brand. Attracting top people can be greatly impacted by developing a strong employer brand (Indeed, 2020). To improve the reputation of the organization:

  • Highlight the mission, values, and culture of the business on website, in employee testimonials, and on social media.
  • Emphasize the advantages, incentives, and chances for professional growth available to employees.
  • Provide opportunities for current employees to talk about their great experiences working for the company in order to foster employee advocacy.

When considering the education industry in Sri Lanka, there are different organizations all over the country named as American National College, ESOFT Metro Campus, Nawaloka College of Higher Education, First Friends, American College of Higher Education, CINEC, SLIIT and etc. The above mentioned and non-mentioned all the institutes tries to maintain their employer brand in order to become the pioneer in the Education Industry.

2.     Utilize Multiple Recruitment Channels

It's critical to use a range of recruitment channels in order to connect with a wide pool of excellent talent (Leonard & Main, 2023). Several efficacious avenues to contemplate encompass:

  • Professional networking sites and online job forums like Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor
  • Use social media sites like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to interact with candidates and advertise job openings
  •  Internal talent pipelines and employee recommendations
  • Conferences in the sector, career fairs, and networking events

As an example, the LinkedIn is a major platform to recruit top talented individuals to an organization.

3.     Implementing a Targeted Recruitment Marketing Strategy

Invest in marketing initiatives for recruiting that are specifically targeted to particular skill sets or demographics (Leonard & Main, 2023). This could consist of:

  • Drafting job descriptions that are appealing to your target audience and truly depict the position
  • Reaching passive applicants by using job boards and social media platforms for customized advertising
  • Using newsletters, tailored content, and email marketing campaigns to interact with possible prospects.

 
4.     Offer Competitive Compensation and Benefits

Organizations that provide attractive benefits and competitive remuneration packages tend to attract top talent. The benefits and compensation plan delivers incentives that attract excellent candidates and is in line with industry norms (Britt, 2022). This could consist of:

  • Competitive pay with bonuses dependent on performance
  • Retirement plans, full health insurance, and additional perks
  • Policies that offer significant paid time off, flexible work arrangements, and remote work choices.

This would enable the company to create skilled and varied staff that drives the expansion and success of the company by continuously improving the recruitment tactics and remaining on the cutting edge.
